Burna Boy's song 'Destiny' will be featured in the US presidential inauguration playlist on Wednesday. The inauguration ushers into office President-elect, Joe Biden, and Vice President-elect, Kamala Harris.

Burna Boy (real name Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu) is the only African artist featured on the 46-track playlist and will be playing alongside other international artists such as Beyoncé‘s “Find Your Way Back“, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige‘s “Now Or Never“, SZA‘s “Good Days“, Tame Impala‘s “Let It Happen“, Major Lazer and Anitta‘s “Make It Hot“, Bob Marley and The Wailers‘ “Could You Be Loved," among many others to usher in the 46th President of the United States of America, Joe Biden and his Vice President, Kamala Harris.

The playlist comes ahead of the inauguration ceremony which will be taking place in the evening.

"Destiny" is the 13th track on Burna Boy's Grammy-nominated album 'African Giant' which dropped in 2019. The Afrobeats star is one artist who's certainly vocal on political issues. The Presidential Inaugural Committee’s CEO, Tony Allen, explained the criteria behind the song selection in a statement, published in The Insider.

He said the playlist is meant to ”honour music as a consistent vehicle that has kept us connected through a challenging year”.

“These songs and artistes reflect the relentless spirit and rich diversity of America. They are the score to a new chapter and will help bring people together as the Biden-Harris Administration begins its important work to unite our country,’’ Allen noted.

At 29, Burna Boy is one of Africa's breakout stars, and his music has been sampled and featured by some of the world's biggest artists including Fall Out Boys, Jorja Smith, and Beyoncé.
