Burnley vs Chelsea: Match Preview, Build-up, Team News, Kick

Chelsea travels to Turf Moor to face Burnley as Sean Dyche and Frank Lampard face off in round 1 of the meeting between Chelsea and Burnley in the EPL fixture.

AllNews understands that Burnley lost to Tottenham on Monday night as the Son-Kane combination gave Jose Mourinho the 1-goal lead to win the match at Turf Moor.

Burnley now sits at 18th on the log with 1 point after 5 games while Chelsea is on 10th with 9 points from 18 available.

The Clarets are not very good up front scoring 3 goals while defensively they conceded less compared to other sides in the EPL, they have the same number of goals conceded (9) as Chelsea.

The Blues on the other hand has managed to score 13 goals compared to Burnley's 3 in the EPL.

Burnley (EPL Build-up)

Due to Manchester United's UEFA participation, Burnley has a game in hand missing the matchday 1 game against United - but with United's current form, they might start licking their wounds by trying to get at least a point against the still fledging Chelsea team.

James Tarkowski is one of the best defenders for the Clarets and in the premier league since his announcement in 2017 with his defensive prowess but the English man is yet to rise up to his standards.

He almost scored a header against Tottenham - but a touchline clearance by Harry Kane kept his properly placed header from entering into the top corner.

Despite his side loss, he still found their performance great against a team that is really doing very well so far - Tottenham.

The club's captain MEE is on his comeback from injury, completing a 70 minutes training section on Wednesday could show a good side for Sean Dyche as they prepare for the Blues.

Burnley still has Pieters, Bardsley, Cork, Stephens, Wood, and MEE out on injury

Coach Statement

Sean Dyche had good things to say about his side especially his defensive performance holding off Jose Mourinho side till the 76th minute before a breakthrough.

Burnley lost all first 3 games against Leicester City, Southampton, and Newcastle but they caught a break against West Brom as both sides played out a 0-0 draw.

Burnley manager, Sean Dyche pointed to the West Brom as a breakthrough and he also saw the Tottenham game as a work in progress.

Chelsea (EPL Build-up)

Chelsea slowly but gradually becomes a millionaire team in their play and depth as they gel into a team and Frank Lampard continues to get the best of his investment.

Three clean sheets in a row for Chelsea and Edouard Mendy is the first icing on the cake, but also 3 consecutive draws could still mean the cake is yet to ferment.

A draw at Old Trafford was counted to Chelsea as a win facing a side who defeated them 3 times in a row last season and especially on United's home turf.

Four different scorers in a game; Hakim Ziyech, Callum Hodson Odoi, Timo Werner, and Christian Pulisic could give Lampard some comfort on a blissful European night.

All attentions now turn to EPL as they travel to Turf Moor to face reality dawning Burnley in the relegation zone.

It becomes very premature to rule Burnley out as they recover from their drowsiness.

Hakim Ziyech got the spotlight as he grabbed his first goal for Chelsea in all competitions with a lovely finesse into the net. He also got his first man of the match award.

The African player will continue to use his lightweight, fast legs and ability to shoot to see if he can conjure some of the magic at Amsterdam to Stamford Bridge.

Crisis in choosing who to shoot the penalty will be decided by Lampard as Jorginho missed two penalties in two games already.

Out of the last 5 meetings between the Clarets and the Blues, Chelsea has won 4 and a draw - 3 in Turf Moor and 1 at Stamford Bridge.

The return of Pulisic is also great for Chelsea with the American dribbling ability capable of breaking through the toughest defense.

Coach Statement

Lampard had nothing but praise for his men as they traveled, shrug off the jetlag, and get to the pitch to swarm Krasnodar away in superior quality.
