CBN Reduces Cash Withdrawals To N100,000, N500,000 For Individuals, Companies Per Week

A new policy has been made by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) which mandates deposit money banks and other financial institutions to ensure that over-the-counter cash withdrawals by individuals and corporate entities do not exceed N100,000 and N500,000 respectively per week.

According to a report by Nairametrics, the revised cash withdrawal limits is contained in a circular issued today by the apex bank and will take effect nationwide on January 9, 2023. Read more here.

The Central Bank of Nigeria's new policy on cash withdrawal limits on individuals and organisations has stirred massive reactions on Twitter.

The apex bank on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, issued a memo revealing that individuals will only be able to withdraw N100,000 per week (from over-the-counter, point-of-sale machines or automated teller machines), while organisations can access N500,000 per week.
