Redesigned Naira Notes: CBN Launches Cash Swap Scheme For Rural Communities

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced the launch of a Cash Swap Programme for rural and underserved areas, which will take effect from Monday, January 23, 2023.

The disclosure was made in a circular released by the CBN on Friday evening to all Deposit Money Banks, Mobile Money Operators and Super Agents. Read more here.

Dangote Industries Limited has said the Dangote Refinery project is not part of President Mohammadu Buhari’s Programmed visit to Lagos State.

The group, in a signed by group chief, branding & communications officer of Dangote Industries, Anthony Chiejina said: "Our attention has been drawn to some misleading reports regarding the commissioning of our Dangote Refinery during the present working visit of President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR to Lagos State. Do Not See Naira Redesign As Form Of Witch Hunt, Punishment — NOA To Nigerians

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has urged Nigerians not to see the naira redesign as a form of witch hunt or punishment but as a way of improving the economy.

Olusegun Adeyemi, the Kwara Director of NOA, said this on Wednesday in Ilorin during a motorised campaign aimed at educating the residents on the acceptance of the new Naira notes and the deadline to deposit old notes. Read more here

Cash Swap Programme: CBN Bars Lagos, Abuja PoS Operators

Mobile money/Point of Sales agents in Abuja and Lagos have been excluded from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)'s  newly launched cash swap programme.
