Businesswoman Who Bites Off Apprentice's Cheek Remanded

A businesswoman, Lovina Chukwuekezi, has been remanded by the police by an Ojo magistrate court for bitten off her apprentice's cheek.

The defendant's husband, Patrick, was also arrested and arraigned as they both face a five-count charge of conspiracy, provocation, bodily harm, neglect, and assault.

Simon Uche, the prosecution lawyer, said that the offence was committed on the 24th of October at the Trade Fair Complex, in Ojo, Lagos. It was gathered that Lovina had an exchange with Chinasa Nnamane, her apprentice, after a bit of a misunderstanding, consequently grabbing her by the cheeks and biting off a part.

Patrick, the first defendant's husband, is charged with conspiracy because he was present at the time of the brawl but did nothing about it. The prosecution argued that that was in contravention with the provisions of sections 55, 246, 247,  248, and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants have been granted bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties with the same amount by the court's magistrate, A.A. Adesanya, adjourning the case until the 15th of January 2020.
