The Nigerian stock market's rout continued on Tuesday, as the All-share index slid lower by 0.08% to 38256.76, causing a loss of N16.06 billion in market capitalization.
At the end of today's trading session, a total of 250,204,058 shares in 3,534 deals, corresponding to a market value of N1.55 billion, were traded. Compared with Monday's results, today's data shows 77 percent improvement in volume and 42 percent improvement in turnover. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 19.95 trillion.
Today's trading ended with 12 gainers and 17 losers. C&I Leasing led the gainers with a 9.85 percent share price appreciation closing at NGN 4.46 per share, followed by Royal Exchange (+8.82%), Consolidated Hallmark Insurance (+7.27%), and Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals (+7.02%).
On the losing side, Lasaco Assurance came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 7.14 percent at NGN 1.43 per share, followed by Champion Breweries (-5.66%), Aiico Insurance (-4.96%), and Chams (-4.76%). Courteville Business Solutions recorded the highest volume of 36.8 million traded shares, followed by Zenith Bank (28.19 million), Jaiz Bank (25.85 million), and Chams (16.1 million).
