Captaincy Role Does Not Suit Bruno Fernandes — Neville

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville is not convinced that Bruno Fernandes is fit to be Manchester United captain and has suggested he relinquish the armband at the end of the season.

Fernandes was appointed skipper by manager Erik ten Hag in the summer after the Dutchman stripped the armband off Harry Maguire.

But since wearing the armband, the 29-year-old has faced criticism over his animated behaviour, with former United captain Roy Keane calling for him to be replaced after Sunday’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City.

Keane said Bruno's "moaning" meant he was not "captain material" and has now been supported by Neville in an interview with Webby & O’Neill.

“I can see exactly where Roy is coming from because, honestly, I think if you said to Bruno at this moment in time, “Would you want to be captain?” [he would say no].

“He’s a brilliant player; I think Roy said on Sunday that he’s an absolutely fantastic player.

"But, for me, it feels like he’s trying to be everything and everybody on the pitch and he carries that emotion with him," said Neville.
