Carabao Cup: Man Utd See Off Forest In 2-0 Victory, To Face

Marcus Rashford

Manchester United have secured a place in the Carabao Cup final after a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest and set to face trophy-hungry Newcastle United at Wembley.

In the second half, manager Erik ten Hag sent on top scorer Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial to try to finish the tie.

Martial scored the opener in the 73rd minute, followed by a goal from Fred three minutes later.

This victory stretches United's home winning streak to 12 games in all competitions.

The odds were against Forest, as no team with a three-goal lead in a League Cup semi-final had been eliminated before.

The strong starting line-up from United only rested David de Gea and Rashford.

Although it took United a while to get going, ten Hag's substitutions proved too much for Forest.

Rashford's shot set up Martial's goal, and Rashford later squared for Fred's goal.

This is the 10th time United have reached the League Cup final, second only to Liverpool.

They are hoping to win their first trophy since 2017.

Forest manager Steve Cooper congratulated United and Newcastle, and acknowledged his team's disappointment but stated the damage was done in the first leg.

Manchester United's strong second-half performance earned them a place in the League Cup final, where they will face Newcastle United on February 26.

Their home-winning streak continues as they strive to improve every day and maintain high standards.
