Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has expressed her disappointment with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) over its directive to commercial banks to dispense and receive old N200, N500, and N1000 banknotes.
Henshaw took to her Twitter page to voice her opinion on the matter.
In her tweet, the actress accused the CBN of bringing untold hardship, attacking banks and their staff, and igniting protests with its cash confiscation policy.
She expressed her shock at the CBN’s decision to backtrack on its policy and allow the use of old banknotes again.
“You brought untold hardship, got banks & their staff attacked, ignited protests with this cash confiscation policy of yours, then you turn around & do this??!!”

CBN instructed commercial banks to accept and dispense old N200, N500, and N1,000 banknotes, stating that they remain legal tender until December 31, 2023, as directed by the Supreme Court.
The apex bank’s directive comes after the Supreme Court ruled that the CBN must extend the use of the old banknotes until December 31 due to the negative impact of the policy on Nigerian businesses and households.
