Cash Scarcity: Governor Sule Distributes Palliatives To Les

Governor Abdullahi Sule has directed the immediate distribution of food items to the less privileged across Nasarawa State as palliatives to cushion the hardship being experienced as a result of the cash swap policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

He issued the directive during a meeting with local government chairmen and State Working Committee (SWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Government House, Lafia on Wednesday.

According to him, each local government and development area would receive 1,000 bags of 10kg rice, unspecified quantity of spaghetti, noodles and seasonings for onward distribution to the less privileged people who are finding it difficult to access cash to buy food.

Governor Sule said the gesture was part of the decision taken by progressive Governors in their bid to alleviate the plight of the less privileged members of the society.

He further directed thar the office of the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, to immediately commence the distribution by making the items available for the local chairman and officials of the party from Toto and Nasarawa Local Government Areas.

The Governor however cautioned the officials against diverting the palliative but to ensure the food items get to those who are in dire need because of the scarcity of money.

He added that the gesture, which was a collective decision of the governors, is mostly out of humanitarian concerns and not necessarily to score cheap political gains.
