Catholic Priest Kidnapped While Conducting Mass In Enugu Com

Gunmen on Saturday morning kidnapped, Rev. Fr. Victor Ishiwu, the Parish Priest of St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Eburummiri, Ibagwa-Aka, Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The assailants reportedly invaded the church and kidnapped the priest who was officiating adoration prayers.

It was gathered that the kidnappers stormed the adoration ground after midnight and started shooting sporadically into the air.

The worshippers, including Fr. Ishiwu, scampered for safety and dispersed in different directions.

An eyewitness said the kidnappers, who allegedly spoke pidgin English and Fulani languages followed the cleric to the Parish House and threatened to burn the church facility if he refused to come out.

"When the cleric refused to listen to them, the kidnappers forced themselves into the Parish House through the church chapel, which they cut open.

"They gained access and whisked him away to an unknown destination," he said.

The Church and the Police were yet to confirm the incident as of the time of filing this report.
