The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has finally met with the House of Representatives Committee probing the new policy on the naira redesign and swap.
The meeting took place on Tuesday following a threat to arrest the CBN governor over his failure to honour prior invitations.
Taking place at the National Assembly, the convergence reportedly commenced at about 12.05 pm.
As the meeting started, the Chairman of the Committee, Ado Doguwa, stated that Emefiele had given reasons for his absence.
The development comes following the extension of the deadline for the phasing out of the old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes by the apex bank.
Among other things, the House of Representatives Committee set up to look into the naira redesign and withdrawal policy will question Emefiele on the ramifications of the decision.
