Celebrity Worship Syndrome: How Fans ‘Try To Hit Celebs Heads Against One Another’

Celebrity Worship Syndrome: How Fans ‘Try To Hit Celebs He

In a ‘crazy’ world of entertainment where we have different people of diverse cultures and religious beliefs under one umbrella, there is bound to be dramas among everyone’s fans.

The Nigerian entertainment world is obviously full of talents who all do their best in their areas of specialization.

Many of them have devoted fans who will go any length to see that their faves are still at the top.

However, it would have been a different ball game if all these so-called fans show their loyalties without having to bring one star down in a bid to exalt the other.

The emergence of social media platforms is sure a contributing factor to that effect which has now become inevitable in a world where everyone strives really hard to be at the top.

There is always a form of perceived enmity between top stars and most times, these top-notch celebrities do not have anything against each other, but their fans make it seem like they do, as they never stop comparing how far they have gone in their line of career.

Ranging from Tiwa Savage/ Yemi Alade, to Wizkid/Davido, to Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde/Genevieve Nnaji to BBNaija’s Mercy Eke and Tacha Akide, AllNews examines the negative influence of their fans in an attempt to show some form of loyalties.

Tiwa Savage/ Yemi Alade

This duo has over time been seen as rivals by their fans and this has in one way or the other hindered some kind of collaboration between the afrobeats queens.

Surprisingly, Alade, believes there's so much to look out for in Tiwa. In a recent chat, the “Johnny” crooner who seems not pleased with their fan's actions, said it was high time people stopped creating something out of nothing.

Recall that Tiwa had brought Alade on stage, during her “Everything Savage” concert in December 2019.

The "49-99" crooner couldn’t control her excitement as she introduced Alade on stage, saying she felt honoured as the “Johnny” crooner turned up for the event and while speaking on the impact of their performance in December, the "Shekere" crooner said it was necessary to put things under control.

She said "It's something that needed to happen and it's a good thing that it happened when it happened, the way it happened. Why I'm saying this is because unfortunately,  both of us are two artistes and people always try to hit our heads together, i guess that was just like us putting the situation under control. We have mutual respect for each other.

"She's such a hardworking brave woman. There's so much about her to look up to. Everybody in the world go through her story,  they go through mine, you know there's so much happenings were two different people are under the same umbrella and I think it'll be great if people begin to appreciate the beauty in our differences than always trying to create something out of nothing

Davido/ Wizkid

Although afrobeats stars Davido and Wizkid seem to be cool with each other, their fans have always been at rifts in the social media community.

They go as far as comparing their music efforts and success, thereby making it seem they are perpetual enemies of each other.

Just a few months ago, Davido expressed his disappointment at his fans and Wizkid’s.

This platform reports that during one of their Twitter rifts, their fans dragged one another while involving the families of the music stars.

Reacting, the “1 Milli” hitmaker said “Davido FC wizkid FC, has it gotten to this! bullshit, Disappointed in both my fans and his! nonsense”

Recall that Davido, in a last year chat said himself and WIzkid had their differences in the past, but it all came while they were still growing to become stars.

The singer maintained that they both are more focused on moving afrobeats culture to the next level, rather than get on each other’s nerves.

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde/ Genevieve Nnaji

These top-notch screen goddesses have sure made names for themselves in the Nigerian entertainment industry. The actresses who are best at what they do have not also been without fans trying to make them seem like enemies.

Just last year, a nosy follower on Twitter demanded that they both hangout and dish out the photos to their fans”.

The user had said: “@Realomosexy we wish to see a hangout photo of you and @GenevieveNnaji1. That will be so inspiring and darling after all these years of rumors that the two biggest female players in the industry are sworn enemies.”

Responding, Omotola said: “Lol…that’s childish rumours now? Google you’ll see us together. We about making money now #goodvibesonly.”

BBNaija’s Mercy Eke and Tacha Akide

Although the reality stars appear to have been at rift since Tacha was disqualified from the 4th edition of BBNaija in 2019 over her fight with Mercy, their fans have never ceased fuel the embers of rivalry between them.

Since the ‘Pepper Dem’ edition ended in October 2019, there has always been one form of drama or the other between their fans on social media.

It is even made worse when one of the two posts the latest achievement on social media. This drives fans into a frenzy of comparison.

An instance was in January when Mercy claimed that some of Tacha’s fans printed an obituary of her mum with the caption “Gone Too Soon”

Mercy, in a live video, threw some heavy jabs at Tacha saying “I woke up with tweets that some people who do not have a family, some people who are orphans, some people who are street dogs, some people who doesn’t have a sister. The Mercy you all see in the house is not someone to play with.

Another instance where their fans have stirred arguments on social media was when Tacha’s fans screamed “ we don’t do fake yansh” when Tacha arrived Port Harcourt some months back. Recall that many claimed Mercy underwent plastic surgery to attain her banging shape.

Davido/ Burna Boy

Although there seems to be a perceived beef between the A-list singers, their fans have also contributed to the perception.

Just last week, the singers sent social on a frenzy after some comments were attributed to them.

AllNews reports that it all began when Davido took to his Instastory to anticipate his upcoming album dubbed "A Better Time" to be released in July.

"JULY!!! #ABT," OBO wrote.

Shortly after, Burna Boy took to his Snapchat handle to say that July will be a funny month, stating that he will laugh accordingly.

"July will be very funny and I shall laugh accordingly."

Looks like a subtle shade at Davido, right? That was the conclusion of Twitter and Instagram users.

Davido subsequently dropped another cryptic message on his Instagram handle, where he declared himself and Wizkid the "greatest of all time."

The "1 Milli" crooner shared a photo of his and Wizkid, dressed like Yoruba herbalists, with the caption “The 2 greatest of all time ! No ?"

Again, Burna Boy took to his Snapchat handle to seemingly declare that Davido cannot sing, but his father's wealth paved ways for him.

He wrote, “you cannot play football, everybody knows you cannot play football and you are an embarrassment to the team But your daddy bought the football team.”

These social media posts did not go unnoticed as fans of Davido took out time to bash Burna Boy, calling him arrogant and rude.
