Edin Dzeko and Denzel Dumfries
Edin Dzeko was on target as Inter Milan recorded a 2-0 win over 10-man Viktoria Plzen at the Doosan Arena to earn their first Champions League win of the 2022-23 season.
The Nerazzurri lost their first match against Bayern Munich 2-0 in Italy.
It was a dominant display from Inter Milan, Dzeko deservedly opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a low shot following good work by Joaquin Correa.
Plzen's woe was compounded when midfielder Pavel Bucha was sent off for a dangerous play.
Inter Milan took advantage of the numerical advantage ten minutes after when Edin Dzeko found Denzel Dumfries at the far post, the full-back made no mistake in firing past Viktoria Plzen's goalkeeper.
Inter Milan manager Simeone Inzaghi praised his team for not losing focus in the match.
"I'm definitely very happy, my players stayed focused throughout the game, and I thanked them for that afterwards,"
"But we controlled the game until then, the only flaw was that it was still only 1-0".
"We are glad that we have turned a difficult game into an easy one," said Inzaghi.
Up Next for Inter Milan in the Champions League is a clash against Barcelona at the San Siro on October 4, while Viktoria Plzen will travel to Germany to face Bayern Munich.
