Charles Molapisi is to take over as the new CEO of MTN South Africa effective next month.
This news comes after a notification of his resignation as a non-executive director of MTN Nigeria was sent to the Nigerian stock exchange.
A resignation is to take effect on Thursday, March 31, 2022.
According to the statement signed by the company secretary; Uto Ukpanah, “This is to inform the Nigerian exchange limited (NGX), the investing public and other stakeholders of the resignation of Mr. Charles Molapisi from the board of directors of MTN Nigeria Communications Plc (MTN Nigeria) with effect from March 31, 2022. Mr. Molapisi was appointed a Non-Executive on August 2, 2021.
“The board would like to express its appreciation to Mr. Charles Molapisi for his contribution during the period of his appointment.
"The board wishes him the very best in his role as chief executive officer of MTN South Africa.”
Charles Molapisi, joined the MTN Group in 2009 and rose to become the Chief Technology and Information Officer (CTO) of MTN South Africa.
He held key positions in MTN Zambian where his successes helped the company grow its market share of the telecommunication sector.
Until the appointment, he was a non-executive director of the MTN Nigeria group where his contribution to strategic decision making helped the company continue its dominance of the telecommunication sector in the country.
Charles Molapisi takes over from Godfrey Motsa who resigned as the CEO on January 1, 2022
