Edouard Mendy
Mendy is one of the lowest-paid players at Stamford Bridge, he has now rejected Chelsea's first renewal offer.
According to the Evening Standard, the first offer is lower than Kepa Arrizabalaga's take home of £190,000 a week, which Mendy and his management have refused.
Chelsea are keen on tying him down to a longer contract after he signed a five-year deal when he joined from Rennes in 2020.
Mendy has been under fire for his poor performances lately, including costly mistakes against Leeds United and West Ham United.
Reece James signed a new six-year contract with Chelsea on Monday, a deal worth £250,000 a week to make him the highest-paid defender in the club's history.
The new ownership, led by Todd Boehly, is working on renewing players' contracts to avoid a similar situation that allowed Anthony Rudiger and Andreas Christensen to leave the club for free in the summer.
Edouard Mendy has been impressive for Chelsea since joining from Rennes in 2020, winning the Uefa Champions League in his first season and also adding the Uefa Super Cup and the FIFA World Club Cup to his laurels.
He also won the Uefa Goalkeeper of the year award and The Best FIFA Goalkeeper award in 2021 following his impressive showing for Chelsea.
Chelsea will be back in action in the Uefa Champions League against Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday evening.
