Chelsea Loans Kenedy As Kepa's Replacement, Edouard Mendy, Close To Signing Deal

Chelsea Loans Kenedy As Kepa's Replacement, Edouard Mendy, C

Chelsea has been the busiest club in the English Premier League (EPL) in this transfer window signing huge names like Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell, Havertz, and Malang Sarr. There arises the need to also trim the squad and Kenedy is the first out with a loan deal at Granda as Kepa possible replacement - Edouard Mendy is almost a done deal.

Kenedy 24, is a Brazilian winger who sealed a £6.3 million move to Chelsea in 2015.

He has not been a regular starter with other world-class ahead of him in the pecking order but Chelsea still believes he is an important player for them, hence a loan to Granada to give him more playing time and room to improve.

The Brazilian is part of the squad overhauling with Batshuayi, Victor Moses, Giroud, and others to follow after a huge spending summer for the blues to keep the FFP rule.

Chelsea needs one more important signing which is in the goal pole, Frank Lampard has lost trust in Kepa and has been looking for a replacement for him but his replacements are either expensive or not available.

The full lack of trust in Kepa was displayed in the last game of the EPL season when Lampard used Willy Caballero ahead of the Spaniard with such a dire need to UEFA Champions League qualification. Also in the return leg at Allianz Arena against Bayern Munich, he was dropped again for the Argentine.

Possible replacements include Atletico Madrid shot-stopper, Jan Oblak, Ajax keeper Onana and even Nick Pope. All these are not available or would cost Chelsea another fortune they do not have. A better alternative with a £15 million price tag is Mendy and it seems he is also poised to join the west London team.
