Chelsea Open Talks With World Cup-Winning Enzo Fernandez

Enzo Fernandez

Chelsea have opened talks with Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez for a January move from Benfica to Stamford Bridge after a wonderful performance at the World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

Fernandez was crucial to Argentina's World Cup campaign, especially his golazo goal against Costa Rica where he showed some trickery and an eye for goal.

He was also awarded the Best Young player at the World Cup

He has since drawn interest from several clubs including Lionel Messi's former side Barcelona as they look for a replacement for aged Sergio Busquets.

It seems finances have dropped Barcelona from the race and Chelsea have now opened talks with Benfica.

Benfica want any club interested to pay Fernandez's 120M euros release clause as that would enable them to find a quick replacement but Chelsea have another idea.

With Jorginho, and N'Golo Kante almost out of contract, the Blues will need a replacement for him.

Enzo Fernandez 21, has the age and ability to play at the highest level as his selling point.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Fernandez already said yes to Chelsea, it is just about an agreement with Benfica.
