Chelsea Sacked Tuchel Because Of Boring Football, Says Agbon

Thomas Tuchel

Football Pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor has alleged that Thomas Tuchel was sacked by Chelsea because of his boring style of play at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel was relieved of his duties following Chelsea's embarrassing 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the Uefa Champions League on Tuesday.

The former Aston Villa striker opined that Tuchel was shown the exit door because the owners expected entertaining football after their summer spending splurge.

“Last season, I was extremely bored by Chelsea’s football – and this season started off the same.

"When you are spending the money they have, and with the players he has available – they needed to be producing better football.

"Boehly was probably thinking the same.

"I feel like it’s going to be a better time for Chelsea,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider.

“Tuchel’s excuses last night would have been the final straw for the owner.

"There are no excuses – when you have that talent in the squad, there are managers around who can do a lot better.

“The owner was probably thinking: ‘If it carries on like this, we’ll end up fighting for the top four.’

"Chelsea should be looking to be in the top two.”

Chelsea announced the appointment of Graham Potter as Tuchel’s replacement on Thursday on a five-year deal.

Tuchel led Chelsea to the UEFA Champions League in 2021 and also won the UEFA Super Cup and the World Club Cup.

He oversaw the most expensive transfer window in the history of the club and the Premier League when Chelsea spent £272 million only to be sacked just seven games into the 2022-23 season.
