Chelsea vs Crystal Palace: Match Preview, Build-up, Team New

English Premier League (EPL) fixture on matchday 4 features Chelsea vs Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge as both teams try to clinch three points in the title race.

AllNews reports that high-spending Chelsea has not lived up to the hype due to huge spending from the England capital club winning 1 of its last 3 games against Brighton, losing against Liverpool, and a draw against West Bromwich.

Currently, Chelsea sits on the 9th position with 4 points and Crystal Palace is further high up the table at 6th.

Though the Stamford Bridge will be without fans, the Blues will still be favorite over Crystal on familiar turf and squad depth.

Crystal Palace though the underdog, has shown already this season they can compete against the Big 6 defeating Manchester United at the Old Trafford 1-3.

Chelsea (EPL Build-up)

Chelsea is a very good team on paper and big names especially after a very active transfer summer, but they remain to be seen as a team yet with some of the new signings yet to adapt to the intensity of the EPL.

In the last game against West Bromwich, Thiago Silva's poor footing off the ball cost Chelsea a goal, compared to the French Ligue where such might still just be a mere scare.

Robinson was the throats of the defender scoring 2 goals.

Comparing the pace and finish of Robinson and few others like Matteus Pereira to the quality in the Crystal Palace team, Chelsea might be in trouble if they repeat the same game plan or worse.

West Brom was not much of a high morale side going into the game on the back of two consecutive losses in the EPL season compared to Crystal who had won both of their opening game in the EPL.

Chelsea is still without Hakim Ziyech, Billy Gilmour, and Christian Pulisic (though back from injury but not yet given green light by the medical team).

Chelsea also faces Tottenham on Tuesday before playing Crystal Palace on Saturday in the early kick-off.

Frank Lampard might want to change the system, start off with the old players like Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount then slowly as the game progresses, bring in the new ones like Timo Werner and Kai Havertz against a tired defense.

The blues skipper, César Azpilicueta is back from injury and already training with the squad which gives them more cover and a key figure at the backline.

Frank Lampard also confirms ahead of the Carabao' Cup against Tottenham that "Edouard Mendy and Ben Chilwell are in the squad, they’re fit and we will see whether they start or not".

Lampard finishes by reiterating the need for the group to work, saying he's confident "the more we can work and play together, especially with the new signings, then the more we will improve".

Crystal Palace (EPL Build-up)

The Eagles have been incredible this season with 2 wins out of 3 available in the EPL with triumphs at Old Trafford and Southampton on the season opener.

Wilfred Zaha has been on form scoring 3 goals in 3 matches. Zaha is the only player who had scored in the Crystal frontline.

Andrew Townsend also is another player with quality and an eye for goal especially with his long-range attempts - he has scored one and assisted 2 in 4 appearances this season.

Cheikhou Kouyate is also another anchorman in the middle of the pack, going forward, and also doing the 'dirty jobs" for the team.

Others Chelsea should look out for includes Milivojevic, McArthur, and Schlupp.

Cahill will miss playing against his old club with injury, Van Aanholt, Tomkins, and Wickham are still out on injury and would likely miss out on the game.

Ward is also celebrating his 250th appearance for Crystal and would look to extend it with a win for Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace manager, Roy Hodgson also complained about the handball rule which gave Everton the penalty which Richarlison used to score the winner.

He said, "I can’t understand how we in football have allowed this rule to come into operation. It’s ruining the game of football; the rules of football are accepted from people by an early age."
