Chelsea on Sunday missed the chance to go level on points with fellow European football-chasing clubside, Tottenham, on the English Premier League (EPL) Table, following their 1-3 loss to Manchester City.
The Blues were undone by a splendid first-half performance from Pep Guardiola's men.
On New Year's Day, Everton lost at home to West Ham United as they failed to catch up with the EPL leading teams. Same day, Manchester United secured an important 2-1 win over the impressive Aston Villa side at Old Trafford.
On Saturday, Spurs' first league victory since 6 December lifted them in the EPL table.
Also on Saturday, Arsenal ran out 4-0 winners at the Hawthorns, versus West Bromich Albion, to make it three victories on the bounce.
The Gunners' final result meant they are now just few points off seventh on the EPL Table.
