Chelsea pushes forward in their title race and faces Southampton on matchday 5 facing the Saints at Stamford Bridge after the international break for Frank Lampard to have time to gel his huge amount players into a team.
The Blues currently sits 7th on the EPL table with 4 matches down; winning 2, 1 draw, and 1 loss. Southampton, on their own part, had won 2 of 4 and losing two matches in a row.
Both teams are properly poised for the game especially after a week of the international break to cool off some fatigue, but most of Chelsea's players were on duty and it gave them some game time to keep fit.
Chelsea has been under scrutiny after the massive summer spending and much expectation from Frank Lampard's men to win, earn points, and contend for the top spot if not win the EPL title.
Southampton with Danny Ings has been spectacular, too, scoring and challenging, though losing Captain Hojberg to Tottenham has affected the creativity in the middle of the park but they are still playing really well.
Chelsea number 10, Christian Pulisic, should be back from injury and fully fit ahead of the EPL game, Lampard will need all his men operating at full speed now with the return of the UEFA Champions League.

Frank Lampard has not yet decided his constant first eleven but we can be sure the performance during the international break would count.

France cruised past Ukraine in a 7-1 riot with Olivier Giroud scoring a brace shows that the 34-year old is really fighting for a spot in Lampard's squad and he surely made a statement with that performance.
Mason Mount scored the winner against Belgium and the performance of Kante, Kovacic, Rudiger, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner cannot be overlooked as Chelsea would try to scoop all 3 points at the Stamford Bridge in London.

The return of Hakim Ziyech will be crucial for Chelsea on the wing with his explosive runs and long-range shots.

The squad depth is achieved for Chelsea but the problem will be to gel the players into a team or better yet, the formation headache especially with the return of the UEFA Champions League.
Kepa Arrizabalaga (GK), Rudiger, Thiago Silva, Azpilicueta, Ben Chilwell, Jorginho, Kante and Mason Mount, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hodson Odoi.
During the international break, not just Chelsea players had an impact on their respective teams but also Southampton players, especially the strikers scoring at will.

The presence of Danny Ings already posed enough threat to any defense in the English top-flight, with the transfer deadline almost over, the Saints were able to pull a deal on loan for the former Arsenal man, Theo Walcott.

Walcott is a very pacey player and with enough experience in the English Premier League, he will fit easily into the Southampton squad.
It would not be a surprise if he starts the game against Chelsea on Saturday.
Diallo announced ?

Another addition to the Southampton squad is Ibrahima Diallo, the 21-year old is a defensive midfielder who the Saints spent 15 Million Euros on from Brest which shows a measure of importance especially with the COVID-19 financial situation.
The French player will give a measure of cover in the midfield just like his brother, Abdou Diallo who plays in a defender position for Paris Saint-Germain.
Southampton is really going to give Chelsea a good fight at home with the morale high at the St Mary Stadium camp.
Though, even without fans, Chelsea will be a tough match at the Bridge.
