Chelsea's Target Fofana Demoted To Train With U-23 — Rodgers Explains

Chelsea's Target Fofana Demoted To Train With U-23 — Rodge

Wesley Fofana

Leicester City manager Brendan said Chelsea target Wesley Fofana has been asked to train with the Under 23 squad because his head has been turned from the West London club's interest in him.

The Blues have been linked with a move for the French defender, and their first three bids have been rejected by the Foxes.

The latest is a £60-70 million bid which was rejected on Tuesday.

Fofana was left out of the squad for the loss against Southampton on Saturday and the win against Stockport County in the League Up on Tuesday.

Rodgers has now explained the reason behind the decision to send him to the reserve team.

"He's training with the under-23s so he can get his football fitness and keep working," said Rodgers.

"These guys get well paid.
"The very least you can do is turn up. And if you don't, with all due respect, you can't then just think you can walk into our group.

"But, like I say, within day to day, he's a good kid. It's just been hard for him to deal with everything, and while he's in that frame of mind, it's been difficult for him to play."

Leicester City want a world record bid of more than 80£ million for a defender to entertain any idea of selling him to Chelsea.

It is left to be seen if Fofana will be in action on Saturday against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Fofana joined Leicester City from Saint-Etienne in 2020 and has been a vital part of the team since.
