Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun Command, Emmanuel Ocheja has called on parents and guardians to keenly watch over their wards.
This is as he also appealed to parents to always know the whereabouts of their children.
Ocheja made this known during the handing over of Pamela, a 14-year-old allegedly trafficked girl from Ebonyi State to Ejigbo local government council area of Osun State to Nigerian Police, Enugu State Command.
The handing over which took place on Monday, February 7, 2022, was carried out by the Anti Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command in line with the interagency synergy and collaboration mandate of the corp.
Also, the handing over of Pamela was necessary because her parents had already reported the case of a missing child at the Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police.
A press release signed by the Command Public Relations Officer, Atanda Olabisi, revealed that Pamela stated that it was one Samuel from Cotonou who lured her to Lagos from Enugu with a promise to bring her to Lagos to learn a trade.
Pamela also disclosed that before she could get the consent of her parents she was charmed, became unconscious and later found herself in a conscious state in the Ejigbo local government area of Osun State.
Olabisi disclosed that Pamela who in her statement to the corp said she did not know the actual date she got to Ejigbo added that she met two boys and girls in a room.
The Command spokesperson also explained that Pamela Ibe stated that Samuel used to touch their heads with eggs anytime he was going out.
According to Olabisi, luck ran out for Samuel as Pamela was able to escape from the room she was hidden in and was picked up by personnel of the NSCDC who invited her for further investigation when she was observed roaming the streets of Ejigbo town.
