The United States has been accused of "suppression" by China after US President Donald Trump directed that Chinese social media apps, TikTok and WeChat, be banned in the US.
Speaking on the sweeping restrictions, spokesman for China's Foreign Ministry, Wang Wenbin, said, during a press briefing that the move by the US would greatly affect American companies and users.
He said, “the US frequently abuses its national power and unjustifiably suppresses non-US companies.
“At the expense of the rights and interests of US users and companies, the US… is carrying out arbitrary political manipulation and suppression.”
