China Urges US To Drop Sanctions Against Chinese Companies

China's Foreign Ministry on Wednesday said it has lodged stern representations with the US after the sanctions on five Chinese companies for allegedly supporting Russia in the invasion of Ukraine.

This is while it urged the United States to withdraw the unilateral sanctions, vowing to defend China in the firms' interests.

Also, the Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian said that the sanctions violate international law and lack approval from the UN Security Council.

"China and Russia engage in normal economic and trade cooperation on an equal footing with mutual respect and benefits and it shouldn't be intervened in or restricted by any third party," Zhao said;

China said the US should correct its mistakes and withdraw relevant sanctions, noting that China will take necessary measures to firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.

According to a document released by the US Federal Register, the five companies are Connec Electronic, World Jetta Logistics Ltd, King Pai Technology, Winninc Electronic, and Sinno Electronics Co Ltd.
