Cleric Warns Politicians Against God's Wrath

People in position of power have been encouraged to place premium on good governance and do away with pride and arrogance to avert the wrath of God.

The  Bishop of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Ilesa Diocese, Osun State, Right Reverend Oladapo Asaju gave the warning in his charge at the opening ceremony of the 17th Synod of the Diocese held at Christ Anglican Church, Erin Ijesa on Friday, May 12, 2023.

Speaking on the theme, 'God Reigns in the Affairs of Men', the Right Reverend Asaju reminisced the punishment meted to King Nebuchadnezzar for his arrogance in the Bible, stressing that any public officer that behalved  in like manner would pay dearly for it.

Congratulating Governor Ademola Adeleke on the confirmation of his victory during the July 16, 2022, gubernatorial election in the state, the Diocesan Bishop restated the need for government to return missionary schools to churches for proper management.

He bemoaned the growing rate of moral and academic decadence in public schools, regretting the new dimension of initiating pupils into cultist group in the schools by men of the underworld

“We hereby repeat the request made by us at last year’s Synod of Ilesa Diocese to graciously return to the church, the Mission Schools taken over by government many years ago. Same should be done to Islamic schools,” he noted.

Asaju also advised political leaders in the  country to hit the ground running by addressing their problems and meeting their legitimate needs.

“We admonish our governor to continue to build bridges across the divides in Osun State and bring everyone together as onebif family bound by a common desire,” he charged.
