Club Brugge Sack Scott Parker After Poor Run

Scott Parker

Club Brugge, the Belgian champions, terminated the contract of coach Scott Parker, one day after their defeat against Benfica in the Champions League and following an unsatisfactory sequence of outcomes under the Englishman.

In a brief news release, the club confirmed Parker's dismissal after slightly over two months in the position.

"Club Brugge announces that Scott Parker is no longer the head coach," the statement read. "The previous Fulham and Bournemouth employee and ex-England international took over from Carl Hoefkens. Despite managing 12 games, the Briton could only secure two wins."

Brugge's defeat by 5-1 at Benfica on Tuesday marked the end of their Champions League last-16 tie with an aggregate score of 7-1 in favour of the opposition.
