African Champions Al Ahly defeated Auckland City 3-0 in the Club World Cup in Morocco on Wednesday, with goals from Hussein El Shahat, Mohamed Sherif and Percy Tau.
The victory sets up a second-round match against Seattle Sounders.
Dominating throughout the match, Al Ahly had to wait until first-half injury time for their opener, with El Shahat scoring with a low drive from 30 yards.
Sherif added a second on 56 minutes, beating the offside trap and slipping the ball past the goalkeeper. Tau rounded off the win with a simple finish following a back-heel assist from Kahraba.
The winner of Al Ahly vs. Sounders will face Real Madrid in the semifinals. In the other second-round tie, African champions Wydad Casablanca will face Al-Hilal, with the winner to take on Flamengo in the semifinals.
