Coming 2 America: How Eddie Murphy Tricked Me On Movie Set — Davido

Davido has recounted how he was tricked by Eddie Murphy's disguise on the set of Coming 2 America.

The singer made the disclosure in a chat with Ionwannatalk Podcast earlier this month, where he dished on how his cameo on Murphy's latest film came to be.

Davido said, "I'm in Atlanta and it's just crazy... So, I'm in the hotel room... I'm looking at emails... Coming 2 America? What? I'm confused.

"Me, I'm even thinking that maybe it's ... and the next day, I see the check... So listen, I get to chat with Tyler Perry, amazing studio... This whole time I'm still like in disbelief.

"So, my manager comes and like, 'Yo, we start shooting on the ... like November or something... So, I'm like 'Alright. Let me see if this sh*t is real.

"Tyler Perry Studios, I pull up, I see a film studio. I see all those trailer pins ... I just see my name Davido on a big trailer, enter and ask for jollof rice, okra, Hennessy 1942...

"So, I get in there and I'm like... I go cut my hair, bro. Cos it's everybody, like the whole cast, they're cutting their hair. So, I'm cutting my hair.

"So you know how Eddie Murphy, you know he can change into different characters. Bro, dude next to me the whole time! Listen, obviously, where I cut my hair is where all the makeup people are.

"So, as I cut my hair, [does an imitation of Eddie Murphy bending to greet him] "What's good, D?' I'm like, 'What's good?' So, he next door. So he takes it [indicates the makeup on Murphy's face] off. 

"I said 'Ah! Eddie Murphy! [does an impression of hugging Murphy]. So, I hugged him and then I see Tracy Morgan. I see Rotimi [the Power series actor], Teyana Taylor, uhmm, this amazing actress from South Africa as well."

Being on Coming 2 America was something that really got the Nigerian artist pumped and he couldn't wait to get details of the release date.

"... So I'm like yo, 'When is this movie coming out?' Cos I'm excited... They say a year. Jesus!'

When asked if he was able to see any of the movie before its release, Davido answered in the negative but clarified that he saw his part.

"I mean, I saw my part. But I didn't see the full movie."

He added that he was involved in another Hollywood movie, adding that it was directed by Blood Diamond helmer, Edward Zwick.

"I got another movie I'm doing with the dude that shot Blood Diamond. Yeah, I play a taxi driver. So that's taking myself out of my comfort zone.
