Confusion Over Missing UNICROSS Student, Priscilla Ojong
The case of Priscilla Ojong, the 22-year-old Cross River University of Technology student recently declared missing by her friends, is generating controversy.
AllNews Nigeria Friday reported that friends and relatives launched a search for Ojong online after she remained incommunicado for three weeks. The lady had allegedly travelled from Calabar to Lagos State on the invitation of a male friend.
Barely 24 hours after her family and friends' missing person announcement about her hit the internet, Priscilla Ojong surfaced in a video, claiming that she is not missing.
In a video she uploaded on her Instagram page on Saturday, Ojong said she was in Calabar and not Lagos as speculated. According to her, she has remained incommunicado because her phone is bad.
''There is a rumor going on that I am missing. Actually I am not missing. My phone was actually bad," she said in the video.
"Secondly, I am not in Lagos. I am in Calabar. My phone was actually bad. You know the way iphone behaves. It goes off on its own. So I had to swap. I had to wait for a while before doing the swap because I had no money with me. You know if you want to swap you would have to add extra money. That is why I haven't been active for a while.
Please, I am alive, strong . I am very healthy. Please just stop spreading the rumor that I am missing''
Meanwhile, Ojong's friends insist she is being held by unknown persons and that the video ahe released was made under duress.
Her friends have issued a call for further investigation to be done.
She’s yet to contact anyone, her friends claim. They said it is unusual of her not to contact anyone either physically or via the phone after the Instagram video. Ojong's friends are seeking help from the general public and the police for her recovery.
Her friends and colleagues who as well, believe that she’s being held against her will and was forced to make the video, staged a protest earlier today.
