Convoy Attack:  Gov. Buni commiserates NPF, family over deat

Following the attack on Governor Mai Mala Buni's convoy by Boko Haram terrorists, the governor has commiserated with the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) over the killing of its personnel attached to operation Haba Maza in the state.

The Governor who condoled the deceased's family described the incident as "tragic, sad and unfortunate". 

The deceased was identified as Corporal Maina Mohammed who was attached to the security outfit, Operation Haba Maza.

The convoy was ambushed when the governor was returning to Yobe from Borno State where he attended the convocation ceremony of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID).

During the attack, no fewer than six security personnel attached to the convoy sustained injuries.

The attack took place along the Jakana-Mainok expressway on Saturday.

In a statement on Sunday by Mamman Mohammed, the governor's spokesperson, Buni prayed that Allah grants the deceased policeman Aljannatul Firdaus while praying for the quick recovery of the injured security personnel.

The statement partly reads: "The late policeman was on the security escort of the governor to Maiduguri yesterday to attend the Convocation ceremony of the University of Maiduguri.

"Governor Buni directed the management of the Specialist Hospital Damaturu to provide full medical services to the injured security personnel.

"The governor also directed the secretary to the state government to forward to his office a support measure to the family of the deceased policeman."
