The Deputy Governor of Yobe State, Idi Barde Gubana has directed the General Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital in Damaturu to give full attention to victims of Boko Haram attack on Governor Mai Mala Buni's convoy.
The deputy governor gave the directive on Sunday night when he visited the victims at the hospital.
The victims were part of the security team that escorted Governor Buni on Saturday to the University of Maiduguri's convocation in Borno State.
allnews.ng learned that the governor's convoy was ambushed by Boko Haram terrorists, killing one policeman identified as Corporal Maina Mohammed.
A security source had confirmed the incident saying: “Consequently, the troops responded with heavy fire, forcing the terrorists to retreat.
"Unfortunately, one Police Officer paid the supreme price, even as two soldiers including a driver, three policemen, and a DSS were wounded."
Meanwhile the deputy governor was received on the visit by the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, (Dr) Usman Abba.
Abba who was represented by the Head of Clinical Services, (Dr) Mohammad Aji said "the victims are responding to treatment."
Gubana also commiserated with the families of the victims while commending the hospital for their adequate emergency support to them.
Hussaini Mai Suleh, the deputy governor's spokesperson, made this known in a statement on Monday in Damaturu, the state's capital.
According to Suleh, Gubana also prayed for the quick recovery of the victims, adding that "He comisserated with the family of the deceased police corporal who lost his life during the encounter."
