Copa del Rey: Barca Crush Third Tier Ceuta Into Quarterfinal

Jordi Alba and Ansu Fati

Barcelona crushed third-tier AD Ceuta to progress into the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey in a 5-0 victory on Thursday.

Barca coming off the back of a Spanish Super Cup victory in Saudi Arabia went into a full scoring spree with Brazilian Raphinha bending a curler into the bottom corner to open up the lead.

With Polish striker Robert Lewandowski suspended from La Liga matches, Xavi gave the veteran striker some minutes and he showed appreciation with a tap-in from Franck Kessie's pass after the interval.

The second half resumed with Ansu Fati getting into the game for Ferran Torres. On the stroke of the 70th minute, he ran at the defence and bent another curler into the net to take the lead to 3-0.

The Ivorian striker Kessie also got on the scoresheet and later Lewandowski made it a brace to complete the riot at 5-0.

Barca now turn their attention to La Liga to face Getafe.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid pulled a 3-2 comeback win over Villarreal to progress into the quarterfinals.
