Coronavirus: 103-Year-Old Iranian Recovers From Disease

An unnamed Iranian woman aged 103 has reportedly beaten all odds after recovering from coronavirus that is said to affect, mostly, the elderly, this is according the state media.

 The Semnan University of Medical Sciences head, Navid Danayi, said that the woman was hospitalised for a week but was let go "after making a complete recovery.”

This is the second case of an elderly person to have beaten the illness recorded in the country. A 91-year-old woman from the city of Kerman had also recovered from the virus.

The 91-year-old had been ill for three days and took a turn for the better on Monday in spite of his pre-existing illnesses like asthma and high blood pressure.

Although, the treatment procedure for both patients was not disclosed

The novel disease has spread to all of Iran's 31 provinces, taking nearly 1,000 lives. The most vulnerable demographic group is the elderly, and the fatality rate for those who are 80 and over is 21.9 percent, according to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO).
