Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state has rescinded his decision to relax lockdown for Churches to hold Easter service on Sunday.
Recall that the state, which has recorded two cases of COVID-19, has earlier pronounced the partial lockdown in all local government areas.
Meanwhile, in a bid to allow Christian worshippers to commemorate the death and crucifixion of Jesus Christ, he met with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) officials and announced the relaxation of the lockdown.
This decision, which was announced on Thursday, was met with criticisms from individuals and concerned groups.
More so, many Nigerians on social media have condemned the move of the Governor, stating the likely effect which may be dangerous to contain.
The hashtag #LockDownOndo trended on Twitter with clamours that Mr Akeredolu should reverse the approval.
However, on Saturday afternoon, the state Governor announced the reversal of his decision.
"I've heard you all and your concerns on the need to #LockDownOndo. I have just concluded a meeting with CAN and we have resolved that the services will not hold again. Thanks for your concerns. Stay blessed and Happy Easter to all," He wrote on Twitter.
