German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, has been put in self-isolation after coming into contact with her doctor who also tested positive for the virus.
Spokesperson to the Chancellor, Steffen Seibert, said that the chancellor's test result was made known to her after a press conference.
The chancellor will be subjected to a series of tests in the days to come and for now, she will bee carrying out her duties from her home.
In Germany, over 2,000 cases have been recorded in just 24 hours, with 93 deaths and a total of 24,806 cases of infections in the country.

Globally, over 300,000 caes have been recorded, with 96,958 recovering from the disease, while 14,457 people have lost their lives.
