Coronavirus Cases In Africa Surpass 123,000

Coronavirus cases on the African continent has surpassed 123,000 according to a report released on Thursday by the World Health Organisation (WHO). 

The organisation's African regional office located in Brazzaville, Congo, disclosed this on its official Twitter handle.

It tweeted, “There are over 123,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases on the African continent – with more than 50,000 recoveries and 3,600 deaths."

Countries on the continent that have high numbers of cases are, in no particular order, South Africa, Nigeria, and Algeria.

South Africa has a total of 27,403 confirmed cases, with 577 fatalities; while Algeria follows with 8,997 confirmed cases, with 630 fatalities; while the West African nation, Nigeria, has a total of 8,915, with 259 fatalities.

Other countries listed are Ghana (7,303 confirmed cases, 34 fatalities), Cameroon (5,436 confirmed cases, 165 fatalities)
