Coronavirus: Cyprus Records Four Deaths, 1,752 New Cases

In Cyprus, the health ministry said on Friday that four deaths from COVID-19 and 1,752 new cases of the virus were reported for the week of August 26 to September 1, 2022.

It added that the four deaths concerned three men aged 78, 87 and 83 and a woman aged 82.

It said the total number of deaths with Covid-19 cited as the ultimate cause stands at 1,172.

42 COVID-19 patients are being treated in state hospitals across the country with 10 being in serious condition.

And a total of 68,678 diagnostic tests (PCR and rapid) were performed with 1,752 new cases detected. The positivity rate is 2.55 per cent.

Cyprus on Wednesday lifted the obligatory use of face masks in all indoor areas after the country’s health officials said epidemiological data amid the coronavirus pandemic have significantly improved.

All capacity limitations were also lifted as of Wednesday for restaurants, nightclubs, retail stores, shopping malls, casinos, sports stadiums and churches.
