Coronavirus: Gabon Records First Death, Second Death In Sub-

Gabon, on Friday, recorded its first death from coronavirus. The patient was a 50-year-old man who had recently returned from France, another country facing the coronavirus pandemic, with over 10,000 recorded cases.

According to a member of the Gabon's coronavirus team, Guy Patrick Obiang Ndong, the patient died as a result of "complications arising from diabetes and acute respiratory distress syndrome.”

In an effort to curb the spread in the country - Gabon currently has 3 recorded cases of coronavirus infections - the Government of the Central African country has put measures in place to restrict international travels, also shutting down schools and prohibiting the congregation of more than 30 people.

Africa now has a total of 881 cases of coronavirus, straggling behind other continents that have fast rising cases of infections.

Africa's first recorded death from the virus was a 62-year-old lawmaker from Burkina Faso who was sick with diabetes.
