Coronavirus: Global Cases Reach 1.2 Million

The novel coronavirus has spread to over 280 countries and territories, with a number of 1,263,976 recorded coronavirus cases, and a death toll of 69,082.

The country with the highest number of recorded cases in the United States, with over 331,234 cases and a death toll of 9,458 deaths, and 16,690 recoveries.

A surgeon in the US, Jerome Adams, envisions that this week will be the "hardest and saddest week of most Americans’ lives.," comparing the events of the week " to be our Pearl Harbor moment, our 9/11 moment."

He said, in an interview on Fox News, “This is going to be the hardest and saddest week of most Americans’ lives, quite frankly.

“This is going to be our Pearl Harbor moment, our 9/11 moment, only it’s not going to be localised. It’s going to be happening all over the country."

In the US, some states are observing the directive to stay at home, as noted by Jerome.

He asked that state governors devise ways to keep their residents indoors without that affecting the supply of food.

He said, “What I would say to those governors is if you can’t give us a month, give us what you can. Give us a week; give us whatever you can to stay at home during this particularly tough time when we’re going to be hitting our peak over the next seven to 10 days.”
