South Korea’s largest automaker, Hyundai Motor, has suspended the domestic production of its flagship Sport Utility Vehicle, Palisade SUV this weekend because of the outbreak of the coronavirus in China.
In a statement made by Hyundai automaker's spokesman, Jin Cha, the decision was made before the supply disruption caused by the deadly virus outbreak in China.
“We have cancelled overtime factory hours that had been scheduled for Saturday and Sunday to produce our Palisade vehicle,”
"The Palisade SUV was the only vehicle that had been scheduled for production this weekend." Jin Cha told AFP on Saturday.
The coronavirus that was first detected in the central Chinese city of Wuhan has spread across different countries, causing the shut down of firms, cancellation of flights to some specific countries and economy set back.
In this regard, Jin Cha added that the firm is “carefully monitoring the ongoing situation” to make further decisions to cope with the supply disruption.
