Coronavirus: Italy Has Lost 67 Catholic Priests

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, over 67 Italian priests have lost their lives over the period of a month, this is according to a newspaper Avvenire.

The newspaper said, “Priests get sick and die like everybody else, maybe even more than the rest.”

The Church with the most casualty is the Bergamo diocese, where 22 priests died, with the youngest of them aged 53.

In light of this, the Pope has enjoined all priests “to have the courage to go out and see the sick” as the virus continued to see a swell in the number of infection cases.
