As the world struggles to contain the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Juventus star forward, Gonzalo Higuain has reportedly left quarantine and flew to Argentina.
Allnews reports that according to La Repubblica and La Gazzetta dello Sport, Higuain 'escaped' quarantine and flew to his country of descent, despite two clubmates testing positive for the dreaded virus.
La Repubblica’s online edition claims that police stopped Higuain at the Caselle Airport in Turin as he tried to board a private jet, but the former Real Madrid man showed them a test that confirmed he was negative for COVID-19.
As the disease has such a long incubation period and two teammates have been infected, Higuain should have stayed in self-isolation for at least another week.
It is claimed that Higuain asked Juventus for permission to visit his mother, who is ill.
Tuttosport insist not only were Juve aware, but they provided the private jet.
The death toll from an outbreak of coronavirus in Italy has risen in the last 24 hours to more than 3,400, overtaking the total number of deaths so far registered in China (the country the new coronavirus disease was first discovered in late 2019), officials said, as the tally worldwide nears 10,000.
