Coronavirus: Liberia Restricts Travel From Countries With Over 200 Cases

Coronavirus: Liberia Restricts Travel From Countries With Ov

The President of Liberia, George Weah, on Monday, said, during a televised addressed that travels from any country with 200 cases of infections from coronavirus will not be allowed into the country.

Liberia recently recorded its first case of the virus, prompting this move from the country's government.

He said, “All citizens or residents are urged to avoid public gatherings and large crowds.”

The years 2014 and 2016 saw many Liberians die from the outbreak of the Ebola disease, from which the country is still reeling.

Weah said that the virus “represents the greatest threat to the health and the wellbeing of the people of Liberia since the Ebola epidemic.”

He's enjoined, strongly, that citizens refrain from handshakes or any unnecessary contact with strangers, advising that Liberians greet each other with the nod of the head.

“There should be no handshaking whatsoever. Use a nod of the head for greeting each other,” he urged.
