Nigerians on social media are asking President Muhammadu Buhari's government to sanction payment to them via the Bank Verification Number (BVN).
Allnews reports that the president had announced lockdown extension in some parts of Nigeria on Monday evening, and as well declared that the palliative measures such as food distribution, cash transfers, and loan repayment waivers to ease the pains of the government's restrictive policies during the lockdown will be sustained.
According to Buhari, the lockdown extension became necessary with the increase in the number of recorded cases in the country.

The FG should use this opportunity to pay the masses with BVN. With the additional 14 days which have been added to the lockdown, we need to survive at home ?.
Rt and use the hashtag #payusviaBVN , they need to hear the masses cry ? https://t.co/MgIeVUhQhE

BVN is basically to address identity theft. According to NISS, 38.5 million accounts has BVN identity as at 2019 which means there’s a database... If Namibia is said to pay their citizens ‘reliefs’ for COVID19 through their bank accounts, why can’t the Nigerian govt #PayusviaBVN?
