Coronavirus: SON Inspects Face Mask Factory In Calabar

 

Amid the fight against the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has conducted a quality inspection of Cross River Garment Factory in Calabar, Cross River State.

SON in a statement on Sunday said that the new quality check is in line with the state government's “No masks, no movement” policy.

The SON inspection team was led by the Cross River State Coordinator, Michael Ogbuji, on behalf of the Director-General, Mr. Osita Aboloma.

Speaking during the tour, the acting Managing Director of the CRGF, Mr. Edet Joseph, said the Ankara material used for the mask, are made from top quality cotton.

He added that the factory has employed good safety measures that will work, emphasizing on social distancing.

Joseph said the company has the capacity to produce 100,000 units per day.

He explained that the inspection was aimed at ensuring that firms producing masks complied with the standards provided by SON to meet Nigeria’s need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
