Coronavirus: Spain's Death Toll Drops To 288

Spain, one of the worst-hit countries from the coronavirus pandemic, has recorded a drop in its daily death toll since the 20th of March. 

It recorded 288 deaths on Sunday from the 378 recorded on Saturday, making the total death toll in the country 23,190. with this in view, the Spanish government has eased the lockdown in the country after six weeks, AFP reports.

On the 14th of March, Spain directed that its 47 million residents stay at home in a bid to prevent the spread of the virus.

The Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, said that every resident of the country could go out for exercises and take walks starting from the coming weekend.

Earlier, adults in the country were the only residents allowed to walk outside only to get groceries, medical items and other essential products.

On Tuesday, the government is expected to roll out its lockdown alternative that is expected to begin in the second half of May, this is according to the country's PM.

Spain's health ministry said that 98,731 people have recovered from the disease.
