The President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, has said that he, alongside his VP, will be taking an 80 percent slash in their remunerations, this is to support the fight against the outbreak of coronavirus.
Uhuru disclosed this at a press conference on Wednesday, stating that not only will he and VP see a cut in their salaries, but members of his administration will follow suit, albeit willingly, slashing their salaries by 30 percent.
He said that Chief Administrative Secretaries and other chief secretaries will see a slash in their salaries by 30 and 20 percent respectively.

The president hopes that this move will sustain the country's battle against the virus, adding that the Government of Kenya is working to further the burden on the citizens with a 100 percent tax relief for working class Kenyans earning below Ksh24,000.
Coronavirus is present in over 46 countries on the African continent, with 2,475 cases of infections recorded, and a death toll of 64.
