Coronavirus: UK Govt Orders A Three-Week Lockdown

Citizens and reisdents of Brittain have been urged to stay home, as the country's government mandates a three-week lockdown to curb the spread of coronavrius.

The government makes a move to close down activities like "non-essential" stores and services and the gathering of more than two people have been banned.

In a pubkic address, the Prime Minister of Britain, Boris Johnson, advised all residents to "stay at home."

“From this evening (Monday) I must give the British people a very simple instruction — you must stay at home,” he said.

“Because the critical thing we must do is stop the disease spreading between households.”

Although, there is a lockdown in Britain, the government will allow for the buying of necessities, solitary exercises, medical emergencies, travels to and from work, this is according to AFP.

 Concerning the breaking of rules, Johnson said, “If you don’t follow the rules the police will have the powers to enforce them, including through fines and dispersing gatherings.”

“I urge you at this moment of national emergency to stay at home, protect our NHS and save lives,” he added.

Johnson assured Britons that the restriction of movements will be “under constant review”, he added.

“We will look again in three weeks, and relax them if the evidence shows we are able to.

“But at present, there are just no easy options. The way ahead is hard, and it is still true that many lives will sadly be lost.”
